Allatoona Pass Civil War Trail
Allatoona Pass Civil War Interpretation Trail |
|
The Allatoona Pass Civil War Interpretation Trail is an easy 1 1/4 mile hike that begins at Allatoona Pass Battlefield, which is located 2 miles north of I-75 off Old Allatoona Road. The trail begins on the old Western and Atlantic railroad bed, the railroad that ran through the pass during the Civil War. The trail then turns right onto part of Old Tennessee Road. There are interpretive signs along the way for you to enjoy. The signs along the trail give detailed information about the bloody battle that took place there in 1864 (click here for more information about the history of the battle of Allatoona Pass). The trail winds along the Oak-Pine ridges and the site of the battle that took place there.
