The lake may be getting a little quieter as fall arrives, but Red Top Mountain is still going strong. It has a range of holiday events finishing this weekend with Halloween Hayrides.

The rides go through the abandoned campground at old Iron Hill and stop for a campfire and family-friendly Halloween stories by top-notch professional storytellers.

Visit friendsofredtop.org to find out more.

The Army Corps of Engineers is in the process of rewriting it’s water management plan for the entire Coosa River basin.

This announcement came at a public meeting organized by the Corps in Cobb County.

What does this mean for Lake Allatoona? Not much yet. Its going to take three years. The same plan has been used since when Lake Allatoona was the only dam on the system.

The reasons are many, from the smaller size of Allatoona to its larger watershed, but Lake Allatoona continues to do much better than Lake Lanier.

Currently Allatoona is down a foot but Lanier is down by over 15.

It rained heavily last week but most of that soaked into the ground unfortunately and Lanier held at its current level.
