The deluge of recent rains in North Georgia have sent the Lake Allatoona water levels soaring past full pool. The lake rose rose more than 8 feet in the past 24 hours. Currently the lake is 11 feet above full pool and still rising. The high water levels have caused Allatoona to spread over its banks into parks, campgrounds and parking lots on shore. The Corps of Engineers which is in controls the lake, has shut down all boat ramps on the lake except for Stamp Creek and Galts Ferry. Photos of the Lake Allatoona FloodingThese are photos taken on Tuesday morning of the ramps and roads around Allatoona. Despite the high water, fishermen are still out on the lake between fish from Bartow Carver to the Dam. Thanks to Robert Edison from First Bite Guide Services for these photos.

Any guesses on how long it'll take to get back down? We are planning to be there Oct. 1st for a fishing trip, should we just cancel?
Since the Gov. of Alabama has been complaining about Georgia not sharing the water...open all the flood gates and tell him here it comes and share the flooding....
I've been on Lake Allatoona for 10 years and never seen it this high, but in spite of what one of the other posters has said, the lake is NOT trashed. I SWAM out to my boat, in Allatoona Landing last Friday, and took it out for a "look see". Granted, there is a lot of flooding of campgrounds around the lake and launching ramps are underwater and unusable for now, but it is refreshing to see the water so high. You do need to be very careful though for occassional floating logs and debris. For those not very familiar with navigating the lake, it would be wise to stay in the center of the chennels as there are some channel markers that are actually under water! Also, even some of the smaller boats can not get under the bridge between the South end of the Lake and the North end just South of the damn. I sas Jet Skiers having to duck to get under! enjoy the deep water for now, but be careful!
Was at the lake Sunday, the 27th of September. It was amazing. Last year, about this time, the finger of water beside the Homestead Cabin (which sported a fishing sign) was completely dry - first time I remember it being that way. Sunday, the water in the finger was up so high, it was well up into the trees and grass. The floating dock over on the other side could not be reached unless you waded through water that looked to be at least waist deep. Joe, as an Alabaman (a Georgian in the recent past), I think its sad that the only time you really want to share water is when you need to get rid of some. It would be fine with me if you just tore down the dam altogether and let everyone have a fair share of whatever God sees fit to give us. By the way, here in Alabama rainfall has also been much higher than normal. At my house it rained everyday in September until Thursday, the 24th and it rained heavily again on Saturday.
Before the storm we had a 3 acre pond that feed into Allatoona but we lost our Dam and now looking into rebuilding. We are looking for grants for rebuilding. The Corp says we have to remove the silt before rebuilding and then start.
I would like to take my family to Park Marina (I believe that is the name of it) at Red Top MTN.on Saturday Oct 3. Can someone tell me if that area is one of the flooded areas?
